- Rainsford hears a gunshot on a distant island and drops his cigar. This causes him to fall off the yacht into the ocean.
- No, why did his dog go in it!!!
- After swimming to the island where he heard the gunshot, Rainsford goes to the door and is met with hostility. Ivan pulls a gun on Rainsford and is only stopped when General Zaroff greets Rainsford.

- Rainsford patiently waits as General Zaroff comes across his Malayan Mancather trap. The trap will not kill Zaroff, but it will injure his shoulder. This grants Rainsford a few hours to think about what to do next.
- I will sleep well tonight.
- Rainsford watches from above as Zaroff and his hound come across his Burmese tiger pit. Zaroff yet again escapes Rainsford's trap only because his hound falls in the pit.
- After killing Ivan with his spear contraption, Rainsford frantically runs from Zaroff and the dogs. When Rainsford gets to the ocean, he jumps off a cliff into the water to retreat to safety.
- After revealing he survived his fall into the ocean, Rainsford throws General Zaroff off his room balcony. The hounds anxiously wait ready for a night snack.
