  • During the French and Indian war, England and France claimed control over the Ohio River Valley (aka Ohio Territory). This caused confusion and ended in them fighting over the land.
  • What happened during the French and Indian war
  • WE WON!!!
  • yes but now we have a outbreak of disease
  • YES!! now I have much more land and my men have military experience!
  • The Virginia militia, which was under the command of Major George Washington, marched to Ft. Duquesne to overtake the French Ft.- he was defeated and returned to VA. 
  • Positive Consequences of the French and Indian war
  • French settlers forced English settlers out of “their territory” by destroying trading posts and villages belonging to England's native allies. They were mostly succesful.
  • Negative Consequence of the French and Indian war
  • You may not settle past the Appalachian mountains anymore. 
  • France dominated the war in North America for 3 years. Until a new battle plan and an outbreak of smallpox allowed England to take the lead.
  • England gained territory in North America making France lose territory. Many Colonists also gained valuable military experience
  • The British government issued the Proclamation of 1763 which made sure that the colonists could not settle beyond the Appalachian Mountains.
