  • Congress passed a law that made it illegal to speak badly about the Government. Many people believed this violated their first Amendment, so they were against it. The press was persecuted for their work if the government was disrespected

  • The sedition act caused many people to start protesting. People begin to dislike John Addam, and the nation was divided arguing over the rights they have.

  • Thomas Jefferson: I'm for Democrat-Republicans vote for me!! I would serve more terms, and people like me more.
  • The 1800 election was a debate against Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. This was the 2nd election for president in U.S history, the first had the same rivals representing. But John Adams won, now the tables have turned because many people disliked John's ruling. In the end, Thomas Jefferson won and became the third president of the U.S!!
