- The story takes place on one night in November 2053. A man named Leonard Mead, who later identifies himself as a writer, is walking the deserted streets of a city. He is the only person out on the street at night, because everyone else is indoors, watching their television sets all night.

- Leonard Mead gets confronted by the police because it is a very unusual sight to see someone waking just to walk and not sitting at home watching their TV expecally at night.
- Falling Action
- He takes a walk at night and notices that he is the only one on the streets. He observes other people in their houses watching television. The police car stops him. The police question him about his profession, why he is walking, and ask if he is married.
- Resolution
- The police tell him to get into the car.
- The police told him they were taking him to the psychiatric center.
- Thats my house.
- The police are taking him to the psychiatric center.
