The witches appeared and spoke to Macbeth. They spoke to him about his prophecy of being King of Scotland.
Macbeth informs his wife, Lady Macbeth about the witches prophecy. Lady Macbeth monologues her plan in killing Duncan, which would allow Macbeth to gain the throne.
After Lady Macbeth told Macbeth about her plans to kill Duncan. Macbeth starts overthinking it and tries to stop, but in fear of disappointing his wife he continued to push through with the plans. As Macbeth was going to Duncan's chamber, he starts hallucinating a knife with blood, leading him to Duncan's room. The dagger with blood would be foreshadowing Duncan's death.
Macbeth enters Duncan's chamber. Duncan is asleep, unaware of Macbeth being in the room. Macbeth needs to do the job, and he waits for his wife's signals. When he heard the bell ring, he stabs Duncan in his sleep, killing him.
After killing Duncan, Macbeth speaks with his friend Banquo in regards to the witches' prophecies. Banquo was told that his children would become the next King of Scotland, and Macbeth gets worried and decides to kill Banquo. Macbeth sends 3 murderers to kill Banquo. Banquo's death is tragic because both he and Macbeth are friends and Macbeth planning his murder is seen as an act of betrayal.
After killing Banquo, Macbeth meets with the 3 witches and they gave him 3 apparitions. The first apparition was "an Armed Head" and to beware of Macduff, the Thane of Fife. The second was blood child, that no man born from women can harm him. The third was a child crowned with a tree in his hand, referring that he would not be overthrown until Birnam Wood moves to Dunsinane.
