To set the scene, we have 3 war buddies having a little drinking party and reminiscing about their time during the Persian war.Of course they are accompanied by their eromenos.
By the gods, what a day it was at Thermopylae!
Did you see the Persian horde? They stretched as far as the eye could see, their banners waving like a storm on the horizon.
Aye, a day that will be sung in the halls of our descendants for ages to come.
Indeed, brother. But our King Leonidas stood firm, like a lion guarding his pride.
We fought as one, a wall of bronze against the tide of Xerxes' army.
And what a sight it was when we marched out, shields locked, spears gleaming in the sun. The very earth shook beneath our feet.
Here we go again
Yet, despite our valor, the numbers were against us. Wave after wave they came, relentless as the sea.
The sea fought back too and we held our ground, didn't we? Even as our numbers dwindled, we fought with the fury of Achilles himself.
And when our spears shattered, we fought with swords, with fists, with teeth if we had to.
Until the last man fell. But even in death, we bought Greece precious time.
They will sing songs of our sacrifice, of our bravery until the end of days.
Aye, for every Persian that fell, ten more took his place. But they will remember us, won't they? The Three Hundred who defied an empire.
Agreed. Let us raise a toast to those who fell beside us, and to Greece, our beloved land.
Then let us rest now, brothers. Our duty is done, but our legend will live on.
