  • Motif: Love Setting: Juliet's window
  • “O Romeo, Romeo ,wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name, Or, if thou wilt not, be sworn by my love, And I’ll no longer be a Capulet”(2.2.36-39).
  • Motif: Love Setting: Juliet's window
  • “O, swear not by the moon, th’ inconstant moon, That monthly changed in her circled orb, Lest that thy love prove likewise variable”(2.2.114-116).
  • Motif: Love Setting:
  • “Is Rosaline, that thou didst love so dear, So soon forsaken? Young men’s love then lies Not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes”(2.3.70-73).
  • In this scene Juliet displays that names and what they hold with them, such as a grudge, have no meaning to her. She also shows that her and Romeo's love is worth denying their fathers since their love is so much greater than their names. This connects the motif love because it shows the perseverance Juliet has for her love and what she would do for it.
  • This displays Juliet's fears about how suddenly Romeo and her fell for each other. It shows her fear of Romeo falling out of love especially since Romeo seems to me more intrigued by her looks then Juliet herself. This shows the motif love because it shows that there is love between them, but it also shows the fear of love disappearing.
  • This displays the worries of Friar Lawrence wondering whether Romeo really loves Juliet for how she is instead of for her beautiful. His concern for this is because if Romeo and Juliet are not truly in love with each other it could end in disaster. This show the motif love thought Friar Lawrence’s concern of a disastrous love between Romeo and Juliet.
