  • Carbs are very important in our lives. Carbs are like the "battery" that keep us moving each day. Things such as candy and soda usually contain large amounts of fructose which give us short bursts of energy. However things such as bananas, grapes, and cherries contain glucose which give us long-term energy.
  • Although Carbs can be good for you, it is best to eat in regulation. To many Carbs can cause you to develop things such as Type II Diabetes or even a sugar crash from eating to many unhealthy carbs. Eating to little Carbs can cause you to have low blood sugar or even high forms of energy loss and or fatigue.
  • Refined simple carbs are a food type that have had things like the fiber and nutrients taken out. Refined simple carbs tend to fill the body with lots of sugar which produces insulin. The three most common types Refined simple carbs are glucose, fructose and galactose.
  • Unrefined simple carbohydrate are carbs in their natural state. These types of carbs usually contain unrefined sugars that are found in things such as fruits and vegetables. Unrefined carbs help aid your body in digestion. This is due to the fact that they can contain many different types of sugar, which makes the digestion process slower.
  • Unrefined complex carbohydrate are things such as whole wheat bread and sweet potatoes and kidney beans that tend to follow the "natural" and "organic" symbol. These carbs are minimally processed or they can be found in nature.
  • Lastly there are refined complex carbohydrate. These types of carbs consist of things such as white rice, pasta, and white bread. These types of foods were once unrefined, but was turned into a refined complex carbohydrate after it was stripped of things such as its grains and nutrients and replaced with refined sugars in return.
