One major theme in the story "The Monsters are Due on Maple street" by Rod Sterling is blaming others can lead to negative consequences. One evidence I can provide to back my theme up is Charlie blamed a dark figure of being the monster and shot them dead without a thought.Later in the story it reveals that the dark figure was Pete Van Horn, and because charlie was afraid and on edge he shout van horn because he blamed him of being the monster. If charlie thought it through and instead of being driven by fear Van Horn might have made it. My second piece of evidence is people start to get more scared and let fear overcome them and start to blame charlie because he shot van horn dead. everyone is not blaming charlie and some even resorting to violence. My lastly "There are several camera shots suggesting violence. A hand fires a rifle . A fist clenches. The scene happening is saying people are blaming each other of being monsters and are ready to solve their problems by violence.
