Storyboard Text

  • Can you believe I could have eaten the same carbon in a different apple?
  • What do you mean?
  • Well, plants take in carbon dioxide for photosynthesis. They send this carbon through the stroma and the calvin cycle. where it is combined through a series of reactions powered by solar energy to create Glucose. Glucose is a sugar molecule, so it has a lot of carbon in it. Photosynthesis is also how plants transform water into Oxygen allowing us to breathe. So when an apple is growing it takes in a lot of carbon and sunlight. some of that carbon could have been carbon iI already ate!
  • The process of carbon being transferred and shifted around is called the Carbon Cycle. The Carbon Cycle is the flow and movement of carbon molecules. For example, after i've eaten the apple, the Carbon from the glucose enters my body and is used for growth and to sustain myself. When I breathe in, ill take in the oxygen produced during photosynthesis and breathe out Carbon Dioxide, which is gathered by plants, restarting the cycle again.
