  • Hmm... I need to figure out the angles of this island first! Interior angle formula:(n - 2) × 180so - there are 5 sides so that means(5 - 2) × 180 = 540 sum of all angles ÷ 5 = 108°Each corner is 108°... I need to find and reach every one to escape!

  • John was trapped on this secret island, he finds a mysterious map to saftey, shaped like a pentagon with math clues at each corner, he must travel to all corners and solve the math related problems to make it out.

  • The sign says each interior angle is 150°, so I’ll subtract from 180 to get the exterior angle: 180 – 150 = 30°. Now to find how many sides the shape has: 360 ÷ 30 = 12 sides — that’s a dodecagon! Now for the rope... the sign shows it forms a right angle. The shadow on the ground is 5 metres, and the height from the ground to the chest is 12 metres. Time to use Pythagoras’ Theorem to find the rope length (hypotenuse): c² = 12² + 5² = 144 + 25 = 169. √169 = 13, so the rope is 13 metres long! I enter 12 for the number of sides... click — the chest unlocks!
  • The pin to the chest with the key is the clue - My interior angle is 150°
  • this is a model of the right angled rope
  • John saw an island with a boat nearby the tower, so he decided to take the boat to escape. On the island, he finds a strange chest attached to a hook with a rope, with a shape on it and a clue reading "each interior is 150°. But the chest is high up — he’ll also need to calculate the height of a rope holding the chest using information from the sign about the right angle, he will use right-angle trigonometry to reach it and escape!
