- The Battle of Coral Sea was made up of multiple naval attacks that happened in the Coral Sea, off the coast of Australia from May 4, 1942 to May 8, 1942. American and Australian forces fought against the Japanese in order to prevent them from gaining control over the coral sea which would strengthen their defensive position in the war. It was a major Allied victory
- The Battle of Midway lasted from June 3, 1942 to June 6, 1942 and was a naval battle between the US and Japan. Japan wanted to remove the United States as a naval power by taking Midway island in order to gain territory and power but the US cracked Japanese communication codes beforehand which let them gain this critical victory
- The Battle of Guadalcanal occured between the United States and Japan from August 7, 1942 to February 9, 1943. After Japan began building a strategic airfield on Guadalcanal, the US launches a surprise attack, taking control of the airfield and forcing the Japanese into retreat. This victory caused the transition from defense to offense in the Pacific
