Conflict Introduced: Mathilde had no dresses that suited as wealthy for the ball or jewels. Her husband had an amazing idea to borrow jewels from her friend but needed 400 francs, which her husband did give her.
An invitationto a ball?! I have nothing to wear how ever could I go to this fancy party.
Rising Action: Mathilde attends the ball in a new fancy dress and jewels. She loved all the attention on her.
I've had a great time dancing and chatting.
I'VE LOST THE NECKLACE!
Climax: As they both leave the ball Mathilde notices that the necklace is gone from her neck. Her husband looks everywhere for the necklace.
Oh no!!
Falling Action: Mathilde is in poverty because they haven'tfound the necklace and got a replacement. The replacement was expensive and they had to borrow money. They are paying off the debt.
Resolution: Mathilde finds out that all her hard workwas for nothing because the necklace was fake.
