  • The Greasers aren't rich so they go to the drive-in by sneaking in. On pg. 18 it says "by then it was dark enough to sneak in over the back fence of the Nightly Double drive-in movie."(18)

  • The Socs are very rich so they have expensive sports cars. "As I lit up, the Socs who had jumped Johnny and me at the park hopped out of the Mustang."(96) 
  • Bob died and his friend was very sad and we realized that the Socs also have emotions sealed up in them. "You're the guy that killed Bob Sheldon," one of them said. "And he was a friendof ours. We don't like anybody killing our friends."(145)
  • Bob just wanted somebody to tell him no but his parents would always tell him yes. which would make him sad. "He kept trying to make someone say 'No'and they never did. They never did. That was what he wanted. For somebody to tell him.' To have somebody lay down the law, set the limits, give him something solid to stand on."(98)
