  • Factors that led to the Revolution
  • Meeting of the Estates General
  • The French Revolution started in 1789 and ended in 1799. This was a time when the commoners of France rose up against the monarchy.
  • The Tennis Court Oath
  • The revolution started with people learning ideas from the enlightenment and it kept growing from there. From the ideas the commoners learned that the government should be better and they realized they have been mistreated.
  • The storming of the Bastille
  • The meeting of the Estates General was a meeting where all the estates came together to find a solution to France's financial problems. The meeting was unsuccessful and that led to the next event of the French Revolution.
  • The Great Fear
  • The third estate was locked out of the hall where all the estates had a meeting. So they went to a tennis court and took an oath to create a written constitution for France.
  • An angry mob stormed into the Bastille, which was a prison. They did this to get ammunition. After this event happened it showed that the people could overpower the monarchy.
  • This is when peasants that were in the third estate were scared and rioting. They heard the king wanted to overthrow the third estate. There were many rumours going around and the peasants didn't know what to believe.
