- the price was born about 563 B.C.E. in the northernpart of India,near the Himalaya Mountains and in a garden. his father was a powerful king and his mother was a beautiful queen named queen Maya
- the king wanted his son a great and powerful ruler. he feared about the Brahmins' predictions and give up his duties as a royal if he saw the world suffering. in order to prevent him from seeing the suffering he raised him in a world of wealth. but the prince himself always wondered about life outside the palace walls

- after the prince became a father, he got more freedom to travel outside the kingdom. on his 1st trip he saw a thin looking man walking with the help of a stick. the prince asked " why does that mean look so sick" his driver told him that the body grows weak as
- it ages
- just at the age of 16 the price got married For 12 years the couple lived together in perfect peace,enjoying the prince's many palaces. When Sijddhartha turned 29,they had a son.
- on his 3rd trip saw a group of people walkingslowly down the road. The group carried a figure wrapped inwhite cloth. "Death came for that man.'1 Siddhartha's driver saidquietly. "One day it will come for you, too."
- on the 2nd trip, the prince saw another man crying out in pain on the ground. " what's the matter with that poor man" he asked. the driver explained that the man was sick

- Prince Siddhartha's experiences with suffering changed himforever. Suddenly, his royal life seemed empty.Siddhartha decided to give up his old life and find enlightenment. Becoming enlightened meant finding deep truth and beingfree of suffering.One night the prince asked his faithful driver to take him tothe forest. At the edge of the dark woods,
- Siddhartha had learned that giving up bodily pleasures did notbring enlightenment.Instead, he wouldseek a "middle way" as a pathto enlightenment. Siddhartha walked until hereached a tree that became known as the Bodhi (Enlightenment)tree. He placed the grass at the foot of the tree and sat down.He meditated through the nightabout the nature of reality and how to reach nirvana, or truehappiness and peace.By morning, the young prince had become the Buddha, theAwakened One. He had reached enlightenment.
