What caused the apple to fall DOWN from the tree, to the ground?
Could it also explain what causes planets to orbit?
What could explain the apple to falling down to the ground and not float up?
How about the law of universal gravitation, or the theory of gravity! It's what causes things to fall down and the planets to orbit.
I've got it!
The person who came up with the theory of gravity if Sir Isaac Newton. The gravity of the Earth is what causes everything stay on the ground, or fall down towards the ground. Gravity is also what causes the planets in our solar system orbit around the sun, and what causes water in tides and rivers to move. Newton's theory of gravity affected the Renaissance because it lead to so much more astronomical discoveries. His theory of gravity also helps support his three laws of motion which have truly helped the area of science. Gravity itself is essential in our lives because it is the only reason why we are able to stay on the ground. The theory of gravity has helped us today with learning and exploring space and other planets. It also helps explain things about Earth, such as rivers and tides. The problem that the theory of gravity helped solve are the questions that astronomers might have about how the planets orbit around the Sun, and the rate that they are doing it at. We are also able to calculate how to send rockets to space, how to make airplanes and helicopters stay in the sky, how rivers and tides are possible, and how fast meteors can fall before touching the ground. Sir Isaac Newton's theory of gravity has truly helped the field of science as a whole as it has led to much more discoveries, and lent a helping hand in our journey of learning more and more things about the Earth.
