- Citizens play a very important role in society, by fulfilling their duties and responsibilities.
- Duties and responsibilities are two very different things, a duty is something that must be done a responsibility is something that is in your hands.
- some duties that a citizen must follow are obeying the law, paying taxes, serve on the jury when summoned, and registering with the Selective Service.
- If you neglect to do any of these things you can be put arrested and put in jail because these are things that you must do.
- These are important because paying taxes helps the country and serving on jury is important to keep the justice system going. obeying the law is so you can keep your rights, and registering with the selective service is so you can be a part of the military if you are to be drafted.
- Some responsibilities that a citizen has is to support the constitution, stay informed, Participate in the democratic process and participating is your community.
- These are important things to do even though they are not required, although you don't need to be informed about the world, it sure does help. Some people don't help in the community, they wont get in trouble but it is something that they should do.
