Augustus declared war on Marc Antony and Cleopatra since Marc Antony gave Cleopatra land. In fact, everyone in Rome disliked Cleopatra since she was viewed a a foreigner and a threat because she was queen of Egypt. Although Augustus/Octavian lost, in the end, the battle eventually led to both marc Antony and Cleopatra committing suicide, resulting in Octavian becoming the "First Emperor of Rome".
Follow Octavian's ships! We must not let him become Emperor.
In order to eliminate all threats to his power, Octavian killed of Cleopatra's children, possible heirs. Specifically, Caesarian, Caesar and Cleopatra's child. He was the largest threat of all to his power: the son of a queen and the once most powerful man in Europe.
I am finally the first Emperor of Rome!
In order to maintain his citizen's respect for him, avoiding rebellions, he kept his rule humble. Augusts or Octavian did many beneficial things and ruled with peoples' interests in mind with a strategic eye. He hated being called a king in order to humble himself and avoid outrage from citizens. In a play when he was referred to as a king, he was furious.
I do not understand what I did wrong. I was only trying to show respect to Augustus when writing this play.
