- Identity THEFT is when someone steals your personal information to take out loans, withdraw money from your bank accounts, and buy things using your money. There are ways to DETER identity theft, such as avoiding carrying all your ID's at once, make sure you have your ID's before leaving a public place, and destroy any paperwork involving your personal information when you no longer need it
- If you were to get your identity stolen, there ARE things you can do to DEFEND your identity You can contact the IRS specialized Identity Theft Protection Unit,File a Police report, and freeze all of your accounts

- Just like credit reports, you can use Identity Theft Protection Services. These services provide protection on credit cards, bank accounts, and social security information. With these services, it makes it a lot harder for someone to steal and use your personal information
