- In this scene, Mustapha Mond wants Bernard Marx to bring Linda and John to London for scientific research. This is important because it gives Linda the opportunity to return to the World State, and for John to see what things outside of the Savage Reservation are like.

- John feels a strong desire to touch Lenina upon seeing her beauty while sleeping. This is important because when John sees her, he starts citing a line from Romeo and Juliet, which goes to show the many things he learned from Shakespeare's works, and also shows his attraction to Lenina.
- "On the white wonder of dear Juliet's hand, may seize And steal immortal blessing from her lips" (Huxley 144).
- John decides against touching Lenina, feeling ashamed because he was planning to defile her, and after, quickly hurries out as he hears Bernard Marx's helicopter outside. This is important, because it shows that through his learning of moral codes from Shakespeare, he went against the urge to touch Lenina, when people in the World State would have not hesitated to just go ahead and touch her.
