Storyboard Text

  • This is a Native American tribe. There were many indigenous tribes around in earlier centuries; its believed that the first Native Americans migrated here over 15,000 years ago via Berengia. These tribes were microcosms of Native American communities. They lived nomadically and lived near arable lands to be able to propagate and vegetate crops and other plants that they nurtured to help them survive. It is estimated that the population at that time was between 3.8 million and around 7 million, with a high of 18 million Indigenous people.
  • The White Settlers arrive with the idea that USA is destined by god to expand its dominion and spread democracy/capitalism across North America. They knew it as Manifest Destiny.
  • Wait, what is going on?

  • They White Settlers are trying to take over the Indian Land. They are killing Buffalo, the numbers decreasing from 60 million to as low as 541.
  • The Indians are fighting to remain in control of their land. They made many promises but they kept only one. They promised to take our land, and they did. -Red Cloud.
  • The Trail of Tears was a move by the US government to move Indians to their reservations, and the Natives couldn't stand the attrition, and many of them died on the way to the reservations because their effete bodies couldn't stand the harsh treatment. The trail of tears was a sad and horrible thing. Natives were forced out of their land and sent to reservations. American soldiers stayed with them the entire way to make sure they left. The natives were suppressed with abominable cruelty. Women carried babies, and the old had to keep up. People would die on these trips and be buried along the way. The British colonists hadn't shown any contrition for their actions towards the indigenous Americans.

  • The Indian Removal Act was signed into Law on May 28 1830 by Andrew Jackson, the Current USA President. It allowed him to swap the valuable lands west of Mississippi for the not-so-valuable state borders.
