Hello! My name is Miss. Mehrabani. Gina's story was truly inspiring! Due to this, I want to share a few strategies I will use to help ALL Parents & Families
Rahul know how much you do to help him manage his disabilities. We all see his progress and how far you've come!
Specialized Parent/Teacher Events
I am so relieved that my family is not the only one coping with our situation. It can be very hard and sometimes I feel that there isn't enough that i can do to support my child
We are a community & we are here for you! You should also try Aquatic Therapy! I know of the best coach- let me give you his number!
What an amazing presentation! It was so great to learn more about the students & families in our communities!
This event was a success! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my child's story Mrs. M! I am grateful to be apart of a supportive community
Promote Inclusion in the Classroom!
We are so glad you are in our group Allison! You have great ideas that will surely make our presentation be the best in the class!
Gina and her Family's story greatly impacted me personally because I got to see the perspective of the Parents of a child with special needs. The Parents were very gracious of opening up to readers of their story from the very beginning of the Mother's pregnancy up to Gina's experiences up to 18 years old. The video presentation was also very personable which allowed us to really learn who Gina is
Parent Teacher Conferences (IEP Meetings)
I know that as the new quarter begins there are new lessons in the curricula that you must go over. Unfortunately every beginning of ever quarter Dan begins to become more shy, resistant of doing work and tries to hide. Can we formulate some strategies on how to combat his anxiety towards these changes?
Thank you for your input Mr. Samuels! I will make sure to be on the look out for this. Let's find a way to combat Dan's anxiety of transitioning!
Holding Parent/Teacher night events is an opportunity for Parents of a special needs child to have a platform & share their story. The event could highlight families in our local school communities to share their experience in a presentation video format just like Gina's Story. After viewing the presentation, this will encourage heart to heart conversations, discover solutions and build a strong sense of community not just for students, but also the parents and teachers!
Holding Conferences
..And that concludes our presentation of effective strategies to implement to students with special needs!
Thank you for sharing! I also feel that for future conferences you can include the various artistic outlets and how it is helpful for students It has impacted my child's progress tremendously!Presenter: Thank you for your input! I will surely include that in future presentations!
As a future educator, my personal goal is to discover ways that I can help ALL students from various backgrounds, including students with disabilities! One of the ways that I can do encourage this is by having the general education classroom combine with special education students! From this, I will utilize differentiated learning strategies to ensure all students are learning! This can impact families because the other students can learn more about their classmates with special needs, and they can have fun learning and helping each other & support of paraprofessional
Conclusion
Having Parent teacher conferences is extremely beneficial for not only reviewing the student's progress, but also can allow parents to have a voice, understand their rights, share ideas and experiences with the teacher. Holding quarterly IEP meetings is essential for the child's success as well as developing a great parent teacher dynamic. Having parents present during these meetings gives them the platform to voice their thoughts, concerns and experiences.
As an educator, it is imperative for us to learn about our students whole heartedly, especially to our students with disabilities. For educators to be fully emersed in the learning process of the best methods of teaching students with disabilities, and inviting other parents as well; it allows parents with a child of disabilities to feel important, and their voices/experiences to be properly represented.
Coming up with strategies that enhance open communication, understanding and teamwork is the formula to allow parents to feel supported and to have the best possible outcome for students with special needs! This can also ensure that parents feel that they are heavily supported, and that they are not alone!
I hope that you can use these strategies to help families like Gina's too!
