Three drunk men walked out of a bar to find their friend being carried through town on a stretcher. One of the men decided the group was going to find Death and kill him.
The three men walked through town, determined to find Death. They came across an old man who told them he knew Death. The old man told the three men to go up the hill and they would find death.
The three men did not find Death. However, they did find a huge pile of gold. The men decided to wait until night to take the gold to town. So, they sent the youngest man of the group to get them food and wine while they waited.
The man that went to town wanted the gold all to himself. He decided to poison the wine to kill the other two men. Meanwhile, the men on the hill wanted the gold to themselves, so they formulated a plan to kill the other man.
When the youngest man arrived back at the top of the hill, the other two men stabbed him. The two men now had all the gold to themselves. To celebrate, they decided to drink the wine that the younger man brought them. Little did they know, the wine was poisoned.
The poisoned wine killed the other two men. Nobody got the gold, but they all found death as they were promised. This story shows that greed and drunkenness lead to terrible consequences, and even death.
