Storyboard Text
- Grendel would hear the parties and music from his cave and it angered and annoyed him.
- Lines 1-3 "A powerful monster, living down in the darkness, growled in pain, impatient as day after day music rang"
- In his rage he would sneak out every night to go to the castle when all the men were asleep. He would kidnap, kill, or eat the Danes while they rested.
- Lines 35-38 "Thoughts were as quick as his greed or his claws: He slipped through the door and there in the silence snatched up 30 men, smashed them unknowing in their beds and ran out with their bodies"
- Every night Grendel would come to kill more men and every night he succeeded, leaving the men he didn't kill to greave for their lost friends.
- Lines 41-44 "At daybreak, with the sun's first light, they saw how well he had worked, and in that gray morning broke their long feast with tears and laments for dead"
- Grendel came again to kill another man, but tonight wouldn't be the same as the rest.
- Lines 49-50 "The beginning might not be the end. And that night Grendel came again"
- The king was furious at what Grendel had done to his men. He promised that he would make him pay for killing his men.
- Lines 54-56 "To escape him, searched for the rest in different beds, as far from Herot as they could find, seeing how Grendel hunted when they slept
- Though Grendel would kill the kings men, he would never dare touch the king for fear of the gods.
- Lines 82-84 "He never dared to touch king Hrothgar's glorious throne, protected by god"
