The Monsters are due on Maple Street Theme: Fear and confusion are never the answer
In the story Monsters are due on Maple Street, the people of the town are scared and confused, and the shock makes Charlie murder Pete Van Horn. In the story you can see the fright in everybody's eyes, they did more outrageous things the more scared they got. For example, In act 2 Page 81, Everybody starts blaming the Brand family thinking that the radio set they where working on was made to talk to aliens. They were not and everyone was just scared they might have been imposters. Another reason, Charlie throughout the story begins to think delusionally when everybody turns against him, and this makes him blame Tommy, Charlie is completely mentally stable throughout the beginning of the story, until near the end where he got so scared of a monster in the dark Lastly, Charlie throughout the story begins to think delusionally when everybody turns against him, and this makes him blame Tommy, In act 2 Page 84 Charlie says It's... it's the kid. it's Tommy . Blaming a child the mob of people did the right thing and thought of him crazy until they started putting things together with their fear. Tommy knew from the beginning, so they feared he was the Monster .
