Unit 26 to NASA,The aliens are attacking, we knew this day would come. But were not prepared. The software that powers are weapons is down . We need the understanding of integers to hold them back. Can you help us. Please!
Hmm..... ok. Let's do adding integers first. So when you add two negatives the negative sign stays the same, you just add the two numbers together. Here's an example -7+(-7)=-14. When adding a positive and a negative. You keep the sign of the number with the farthest distance from zero. Then you subtract the highest absolute value from the lowest absolute value to find your answer. Here's an example -14+3=-11
Let's go with subtracting integers. When you subtract two negatives you add the opposite. Here is an example: -7-(-7)= 0. Now subtracting integers with different signs you take that amount away. Here is an example: -7-7=-14.

Now for absolute value. This is simple, the absolute value of a number, negative or positive, is how far away the number is from zero. For example: the absolute value of -9 is 9. Here is another example: the absolute value of 8 is 8.
Now for opposite's another simple concept. The opposite of a number that is positive is a negative. While the opposite of a negative is a positive. In other words an opposite of a number is the number that is on the opposite of the number line. Example: the opposite of -9 is 9. Another example: the opposite of 6 is -6.
