Tane Mahuta separates his parents
Papatuanuku and Ranginui came to exist in the darkness and held one another in a tight embrace. Soon enough they had many sons who were born in darkness

Soon the sons grew up to be men, and now that they were older they couldn't find themselves coping in the darkness, so they thought tearing their parents apart would bring light.
Tawhirimatea´s meltdown
So Tane Mahuta laid down on his back, pressed hard against his mother, pushed his feet up in the air again his father and tore them apart.
Peace
All the brothers were happy to finally see light except for one, Tawhirimatea [ God of wind].  He hated seeing his parents in pain so he fled to the sky to be with his father and from there he attcked and battled his brothers.
Tawhirimatea smashed Tane's plants and trees, he made Tangaroa's waters rise and filled them with ocean waves and whirlpools. He didn't stop there he went after Rongomatane and Haumiatiketike. They were so scared they ran to Papa , she pulled them undergroundso that Tawhirimatea couldn't find them.
Finally Tumatauenga [God of war] conforntsed Tawhirimatea but neither could defeat each other. Still to this day humans cannot defeat the wheather. The son's have now become Gods to different releams, some have gone to stay with rangi and some stayed with papa
