- As Suzy is in her lab group with Justin, she has a intriguing thought, "I'm not sure what made me decided to talk to Justin. Maybe it was the fact that he didn't need me to, that he was perfectly content to keep up the conversation all by himself" (Benjamin 240)
- Just leave!
- As Suzy was plaining her quest to go to Austraila she asks, " 'How... does a person say goodbye?' " (Benjamin 249)

- Suzy needed a credit card to but her plane ticket to Australia. As Suzy's dad placed his credit card down at Ming Palace, "I copied the whole thing, every number and letter from his credit card" (Benjamin 232)
- As Suzy wanted her mom to leave so she could sneak off to the airport, she yelled in anger, "Just go, Mom. I don't. Want. You. Here" (Benjamin 270)
- When Suzy's plan fails miserably she is left alone in the airport, crying her eyes out. When she is in realization she states, "My hands. the index card, my expired passport, dissolved into ripples. I saw a fat drop land on the counter" (Benjamin 293)
- Suzy was really nervous to go to the dance, but with the help of her new friend Sarah she changed her mind and says, "But I stopped squinting. I placed my mom's phone in my shirt pocket, next to the photo of Aaron. I took a deep breath. 'Yeah,' I said to Sarah. 'Lets go.' " (Benjamin 334)
