- A part of masculinity is not showing emotions. It is also often to be angry and show a lot of violence. Okonkwo never shows any happy emotions and he is very violent.

- Okonkwo took part in killing Ikemfuna because he didn’t want to look weak.
- Okonkwo’s father was described as feminine and comes off as weak which causes Okonkwo to hate his father forever

- The idea of a woman being seen as more superior in the family is outlandish and confusing to Okonkwo.
