  • George Washington Carver 1864-1943
  • George Washington Carver grew up in Diamond, Missouri to an enslaved couple, Mary and Giles, who were owned by Moses Carver. Within a week of being born he was kidnapped along with his mother and other slaves by night raiders from Arkansas. While his mother was kidnapped and sold in Kentucky, he was saved through an agent of Moses Carver.
  • Why? Just because my skin color is diffrent?
  • One day in 1884 at a college in Iowa...
  • Carver... This college does not accept negros! You CANNOT become a student here!
  • Booker T. Washington wants me to teach at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama!
  • Finally accepted by a college, Carver became a chemist... Then in 1897.
  • That's great honey!
  • Stop planting cotton so much and grow peanuts and sweet potatoes.
  • While at Tuskegee, Carver taught Alabama farmers the principles of crop rotation
  • As farmers grew record numbers of crops, Carver worked hard and long hours in his laboratory.
  • I've discovered hundreds of new products that can be made from peanuts and sweet potatoes!
  • Carver, because your brilliant work has benefited our entire economy, we present you with the Roosevelt Memorial award!
  • His continuing researches brought carver world-wide fame in 1939
