  • The two armies had met up where the rivers Clain and Vienne meet. Charles Martel, who was leading the Franks, had tried to form his army into a defensive position where he had inferred the Muslims would attack. His army was loaded with swords and weaponry while also being a tight stance.
  • During the battle, both armies had chosen to stalk each other, watching their enemies closely. While the Franks had brought clothing for the winter, as they knew the area, the Muslims had struggled to keep up with the climate. Also, the Muslims had cavalry, long lances, and spears. Though, the real battle only lasted for one day.
  • The Arab army had surrendered, and gone back south. Charles Martel had earned the name ,”The Hammer”, and was able to force the Muslims out once and for all later on in another battle.
