- Mayans lived on and around the Yucatan Peninsula, which has a tropical climatethe climate helps to grow crops because it warm and wet but, Mayans had to make space in the thick forest growth to farm.
- Fields can either be flat like this one or be terraces (like the picture in the top left corner) in more hilly areas
- Mayans usually use the slash burn technique to make fields in the tropical rainforest because there wasn't enough space as is
- Corn was the most common crop to grow but, There's other crops like squash and beans
- Temples (like the one on the top left) are used for religious ceremonies and sacrifice to the gods. Temples are huge ( like the one on the bottom left)
- this is also a shrine or temple
- Mayans lived in huts with thatched roofs similar to this one

- Mayans used the slash and burn method to create fields because There was not enough space as is
- Many Mayan cities have religious buildings. These religious buildings are just called temples. The typical Temple is a steped pyramid with a shrine on top.. Temples were decorated with religious carvings and paintings.
