Lennie and george are migrant workers. The book starts out with them at the bank of a river with lennie drinking the dirty water and george getting on to him about it
George was right!!!
lennie begins getting punched in the face by a guy named curley . He takes the beating until george tells him to hit back and lennie breaks curleys hand.
Steinbeck used foreshadowing in the novel when he added the part that lennie kept killing the rabbits he had because he didn't realize his own strengths. This foreshadows lennie killing curley,s wife
Curley's wife is lonely because she cant talk with any guys on the ranch, so she goes to meet with lennie. While talking with him she learns he likes soft things, so she says he can feel her hair. lennie begins grabbing to hard and doesn't let go so curley's wife begins to scream. lennie freaks out and starts shaking her which snaps her neck.
George realizes that no matter what happens with lennie, whether it be jail or and instituion, he will have a bad life and end up dying there. To do what is right and make sure lennie doesnt end up there he comforts him and then shoots him in the back of the head.
George and Slim go to a bar after lennie is shot dead and begin drinking. George usually doesn't drink but needs something to ease the stress of the decision to kill lennie.
