  • Louisiana Purchase
  • I actually can give you all of Louisiana for 15 million dollars?
  • 1803
  • Ugh, I need money really badly
  • Napoleon, I will give you 10 million dollars for New Orleans and Florida
  • SWEET, I get Louisiana for just 15 million dollars. TOTAL STEAL
  • Awesome, I'll take it
  • "Indian" Removal in the Southeast
  • 1831
  • Alright, "Indian," start walking to Oklahoma
  • Generic "Indians"
  • Texas
  • General Santa Anna
  • Actually, you are my territory so you will be staying right under my thumb
  • 1836
  • Some politicians but lets be honest, they look like Teddy Roosevelt
  • We are declaring independence from you, General Santa Anna! You aren't helping us but are forcing us under your law
  • Well then you'll have to fight us!
  • This is significant because Napoleon got money to fight in the Napoleonic wars. He actually won against a large portion of Europe because of this money. Thomas Jefferson got all of this land which would be where his idea of the American man would live. From his perspective, he was getting everything that he wanted.
  • War with Mexico
  • Napoleon
  • 1846
  • No, Texas is now a part of our country s it's our territory!
  • Thomas Jefferson
  • This is significant because while walking to Oklahoma, a fifth of Cherokee people died. It is also significant because after this, white settlers got lots of lush land to be used for farming.
  • Oregon Territory
  • Generic Soldier
  • Okay okay, (next part is just for kicks). Just don't let one of your generals almost start a war over who owns the San Juan Islands
  • 1846
  • You better give us the Oregon territory!
  • This is significant because the Texans were able to be independent from what they saw as an oppressive government that was ruling them. The Mexicans saw this as a coup that they couldn't control and they saw this as their own people revolting against them because of the
  • American Indians and "Westward expansion"
  • Alright "Indian' time to move onto a reservation.
  • 1889
  • No! This is my land. I will fight for it. We have tolerated you enough. You will have to fight us!
  • This is significant because in the eyes of the Americans, this was their territory to do whatever they wanted to. In the eyes of the Mexicans, they were just chasing American forces out of their territory. The Mexican government had never respected Texas as its own government. This entire affair reminds me of the Pig War
  • We'll fight you for it!!!!!!
  • We'll fight you for it!!!
  • Hey, "American," this territory is ours!
  • This is significant to the Americans because now, Americans have achieved their dream of spanning the entire continent, "like rats, or disease." Sorry, I had to say that oversimplified quote. It's from the Pig War video (Please let us watch in Class). This was significant to the British because they lost some land because American settlers had taken it from them, again.
  • Queen Victoria
  • President Polk
  • Um, sure don't know why you would ask that (I love oversimplified)
  • This was significant to the Americans because they had finally gotten Indians off of THEIR land and didn't have to worry about them anymore. This was significant to the Indians because they all lost their spiritual lands to white settlers and were forced onto reservations. They tried peace and then were forced into war ( I would like to say that this was a terrible moment in U.S. history).
  • We don't care. We are Americans who have the god given right to take all this land!
