- One boring day at Bruno's new house, he decided to glance out the window. But what Bruno saw outside was very different than what he had expected ...
- At first he saw his beautiful backyard garden...
- But in the distance he saw many huts surrounded by a big electrical fence, and children and adults seemed to be working there. Bruno figured they were farmers working in a farm and that Bruno must be on the country-side, like his old teachers told him about But why in pajamas?
- Bruno decided to ask his father about the people in the striped pajamas...
- They aren't people, Bruno...
- I don't see why not.
- Mother, I saw some children, may i play with them?
- Who are those people on the other side of the fence, Father?
- ... One day, Bruno decided to go exploring along the woods in his backyard and the fence.
- I guess. We do fight a lot which is why I come out here.
- Bruno came upon a boy. Bruno and the boy apparently named Shmuel talked for a long time! Bruno and Shmuel ended up having the same birthday!
- You must have so many friends on the other side of that fence!
