- Laura, I'm concerned that with our data growth we could run out of network capacity in 18 months. Do you have any ideas?
- I think we should consider accelerating the VoLTE program so we can harvest capacity from 3G voice.
- To accomplish that we would have to bring millions of customers into our stores for a SIM swap; not possible!
- I think there is an easier way.
- A third of our customer base refreshes their mobile device each year; we could begin preloading those devices with IMS/Volte SIMs
- Are you forgetting the license fee we pay to our IMS vendor for each IMS provisioned customer?
- We could reduce SIM inventory to one type and if we started preloading now, half of our base would be IMS capable in 18 months!
- Evolving Systems can identify an IMS ready SIM and an IMS capable device and provision it over the air when we are ready!
- So we could preload all devices with an IMS/VoLTE SIM and pay no fees until we actually provision the device for IMS?
- Exactly, Rob, and since Evolving Systems can identify both IMS capable SIMs and devices we can reduce our SIM inventory to a single type
- So we could rollout VoLTE, over the air, by market or segment depending upon demand, competitive threat or where I'm short of capacity?

- Do you know how the system works functionally?
- Their system is able to identify different types of SIMs and devices and update the SIM identifier and the network accordingly. They can also push customer specific promotions
