Denying one’s identity canstop someone from loving others.
“He needed the love of Juliet and Christopher because he didn’t love himself” (Fisher _51___).The knight was denying his identity. Therefore, he couldn’t love his family.
He didn’t love himself which is why he hid behind the armor and because he didn’t love himself, he couldn’tfully love Juliet and Christopher(Fisher _53___).
“He had never consideredhimself handsome…to his amazement, instead of a tall man with sad eyes and a largenose, armored to the neck, he saw a charming, vital person whose eyes shonewith compassion and love”.
Because the knight hid and denied his identity, his wife couldn’t’ love him.

The knight is refusing to take off his armor because he’s denying his identity which is causing conflict in his family and stopping him from loving Juliet.
“Then take off that armor so I can see who you really are!” she demanded. “I can’t take it off. I have to be ready to mount my horse and ride off in any direction,” explained the knight (Fisher 3____).
The knight denied how amazing he actually was and hid it with this mask that made him believe he was great ,but he couldn’t love his true self because of the mask.
