- Leaves. On the tree. When the last one falls, I must go too.

- She's very sick and weak.
- One morning the busy doctor spoke to Sue alone in the hall, where Johnsy could not hear.
- she's sleeping so I'm going paint the last leaf on the wall.
- Winter approached, the weather got colder, Johnsy caught pneumonia & believed when the last leaf fell from the vine outside her window, she would die.
- The chances are good. Give her good care, and she'll get well.
- The leaf still hasn't fallen.

- Sue went to Mr Behrman and wanted him to paint a leaf so that way Johnsy will think that the last leaf will never fall.
