There was a wealthy man leaving on a long journey. He left 3 servants in charge of his wealth while he was away. He divided his wealth among them based on their ability to manage it.
To one I give five, to the other I give two and to the last I give one.
The first servant took his sum of money, used it to work and produced 5 more talents.
I shall go and trade to get another 5 talents.
The servant given 2 talents invested his money and his efforts produced 2 more.
I shall go and get 2 more talents.
The third servant who was given 1 talent buried his in the ground for safekeeping failing to see the value in his talent.
I am fearful because my master is a hard man to please. I shall hide his money for later.
The master returned eager to see the condition of his wealth. The first 2 servants proudly told him they doubled his money. The third however, still had his 1 given to him.
Well done good and faithful servant! I shall put you in charge of many things.
You gave onto me 5 talents and I return with 5 more.
You gave onto me 2 talents, I am here with 2 more.
You are a hard man, master. In fear of you I buried your money in the ground. Here is your talent.
The master was furious. The third servant was cast out from the household forever and he lost his talent to the servant with 10 talents.
YOU WICKED, LAZY SERVANT. You could've put the money in the bank to earn some interest. GO! You are banished forever!
