Storyboard Text

  • Some people would spend there afternoon watching gladiators fight each other or sometimes they would make slaves fight a lion or tiger, which was terrible. The Colosseum would have around 50,000 seats for people to watch, and the colosseum was the biggest amphitheater in Rome, and there was lots of amphitheaters in Rome. Women and slaves would be at the very back of the colosseum, men, wealthy people, or people with power would be in the middle or the front of the colosseum and have a better view of the fight then women or slaves.
  • Slaves would build temples, palaces, and pretty much everything in Rome. Slaves would also do household jobs and were craftspeople. 400,000 out of the 1,000,000 would be slaves(Almost half of the city). Slaves were usually enemy soldiers that were captured during the war and were sold at an auction in Rome to people with lots of money or power.
  • Women had way fewer rights than men. For example, men and women were both allowed to go to a colosseum to watch fights, but women would sit at the back while men would either sit in the middle or front, so men would have a better view of the fight than women. Women in Rome had way fewer rights than men in everything, women were kind of like slaves.
