  • I miss back home. I'm not feeling OK
  • I understand how you feel, thank you for telling me
  • If you ever feel this way again, here is what you can do
  • This is Riley, she has moved away from her childhood home and just isn't feeling right. Here are some ways that can help her get through this.
  • Riley can speak to a trusted adult or parent about how she feels. The person she talks to can go through some solutions to the issue with her, and possibly help her through this time. The Black Dog Institute says that talking through emotions with a parent can promote healthier thoughts and actions, not just for now but lifelong.
  • Similarly to a parent, Riley can go see a therapist. According to Headspace, having some time alone with a therapist can help work through the complex emotions of depression.
  • In severe cases of depression, Riley could receive ECT (Electroconvulsive therapy) which can rewire her brain, and temporarily cures depression.
  • Riley can join a sport team, which can help socializing and can take her mind off depression. Beyond Blue states that joining a sports team significantly increases chance of curing depression.
  • Healthline states that limiting stimulants, such as caffeine and sugar, as well as depressants like alcohol, can increase chances of recovery from depression. A diet rich in lean meats, carbohydrates and vegetables have been proven to significantly improve happiness.
