  • New Urbanism is a modern approach to planning and developing cities and communities that values walkability, atrracting diverse incomes, and access to public spaces. A great example of new urabnism is The Village Tannin in Alabama.

  • The Central Business District or also known as CBD is the zone if a city where businesses cluster and around which a city and its infrastructure are typically built. A well known CBD is Midtown Manhattan in New York CIty. Geographically you can think of it as "Downtown".

  • Gate communities are residential neighborhoods where the access is controlled in order to define exclusive space and deter movement of people and traffic throughout the neighborhood. Some gate communities can have a HOA like the picture and all the houses look the same. A gated community can be used for the higher class.
  • Gentrification
  • A Suburb area is a build-up residential and shopping district connected to a central city by major transportation routes. A suburb area tends to be a less densely populated area than the city that they surround. A perfect example is Gainesville, Georgia that is a suburb to Atlanta.
  • The basic sectors are sectors that are divided into three based on our economy. The first sector is the Primary sector, which focuses on the raw materials of our economy. The second sector is the secondary sector, which focuses on the manufacturing part of our economy. The third sector is the tertiary sector which focuses on providing services to our economy.

  • Gentrification is when a area is being rebuild of a lower income neighborhood into a middle-to-upper class neighborhood, which can increase the value of homes. New York can have old apartments but then new apartments can be developed and the value will go up in that area because of the new developments.
