  • Gina's story is one of inspiration. The struggles Gina has been able to overcome are extraordinary, and her impact on the world is impressive as she influenced the creation of the anti-bullying peer buddy program, influenced career paths, and created love. I was also inspired by Gina's mom, Niki, as the diagnosis of Gina pushed her to better herself and seek out ways to help Gina's journey. If I can give one main point I learned from Niki, we must foster opportunities for our parents to share their ideas and concerns.
  • EmailI found email to be a convenient form for parents to express their thoughts and concerns that they may have about the classroom because they can send the email at any time and place. As an educator, we want to make sure our students' parents know the email address that is the most convenient for them. Monthly meetings Having monthly meetings in which parents can come to the classroom and we can have an open conversation between parents and teachers will be beneficial for all parties involved.

  • Phone callsSadly, not all parents can come to the school because of work or other circumstances. Still, having an option for phone calls with the teacher gives parents another opportunity to talk with the teacher and share their concerns or questions. Google Classroom for parents A Google Classroom for parents allows the parents to be updated on the student/classroom progress and will enable them to post any questions that they could have concerns about. Also, the Google Classroom will contain information on other ways to contact the teacher through phone or email.
