Cherokee war

- PEACE
- The French wanted to trade with the Cherokee. They wanted to expand the fur trade with the Native Americans in the area. They came to the Native Americans in the area and tried to talk.
- Protection
- The British did NOT want the Cherokee trading with the French. The British decided to bring a treaty to the Native Americans, basically stating that they can not trade with the French. The British now thought because of the treaty they could control the Cherokee.
- WAR
- Peace between the British and the Cherokee lasted for 30 years.The British and the Cherokee were at peace because of the treaty and the Cherokee thought they were in good hands. The peace between the two broke when the French and Indian War.
- After the 30 years of peace the French and Indian war started. The Cherokee and the British were allies so the Cherokee expected protection from them. During that war they did not get protection from them.
- In result of no protection, the Cherokee war started. The Cherokee war started between the British and the Cherokee about land. The Cherokee war lasted for 2 years and the Cherokee lost many members in their tribe
- The war ended and because the war ended so did the treaty between the British and The Cherokee. The Cherokee lost the war and lost A LOT of land. They created a line dividing South Carolina colony and the Cherokee territory.
