- Well, you see, when dad and I first got married we lived in a troubled area and a lot of people had guns and did bad things for bad reasons. So your dad bought this gun legally to keep our home and our family safe. Some people don't follow the rules and it can be dangerous
- Is that what I am hearing about on the news? People who buy illegally and use guns for bad reasons.

- Yes, that is true but you must always remember that is people who make bad choices that make it dangerous and you always have a right to protect yourself when you follow the rules like your father did.
- So that means when I get older, I could apply to have a gun legally to protect myself, my home, and my family and it would be okay?
- Absolutely, as long as you taken the safety training like your dad and I did.
