I didnt think I would ever be using spanish outside of duolingo!
I didnt see you in science class today, we learned about el nino and la nina
Slide: 4
Why were we learning about boys and girls in science class?
Its actually the name for different weather paterns
Slide: 5
El nino is a climate patten in the pacific ocean that occurs every 2-7 years. weakened trade winds push water west which makes cooler water accumulate near Asia and warm water near the Americas. the US gulf coast will be wetter and flooding while the northern us and Canada will be warmer and drier. Also, southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands will have droughts.
Ok I get that, im guessing that the la nina years will be the opposite but could you still explain them to me please?
Slide: 6
Of course I can! You were on the right track thinking it is the opposite. Basically, the la nina years will have stronger trade winds that will push warmer water twords asia. in the south of the americas it will be a lot drier and have drought while northern america and canada will have heavy rains and flooding.
Ah, I see. Thanks for explaining it to me zach. Mrs. Cooper will be surprised I know so much after missing her class!
Slide: 7
Oh I'm not dont yet! I got a few graphs on my phone to show you so you %100 understand for our quiz next class.
WE HAVE A QUIZ!!
Slide: 8
Dont worry Maria you will be fine! Here are the graphs. You can see with the temprature and precipitaiton that 2011 was the el nino and 2015 was the la nina
Oh yeah I can definitely see the difference.
