My name is Storme DeLarverie and i was born Decemeber 24th 1920.#160;I worked for much of my life as an#160;MC, singer,#160;bouncer,#160;bodyguard, and volunteer street patrol worker, the guardian of lesbians in the#160;Village.
I was an American woman known as the butch lesbian ;whose scuffle with police was, the spark that ignited the ;Stonewall uprising, spurring the crowd to action.
My father was White, and my mother was african american. I was never given a Birth Certificate so I was never aware of my birthday and celebrated it on December 24th
At the stonewall uprising, a scuffle broke out between me and police. I was hit in the head with a baton and tightened with cuffs tightly. I fought back. I was told i held a riot. I dont believe so, I held a rebellion.
Around the mid 50's till i say about early 60's, i was touring the black theater circuit as the MC, and also a drag king, we played in the apollo theater and we were the first racially integrated drag revue
After the Stonewall Upbringing, in the 1980s, 1990s i worked as a bouncer at Lesbian Clubs, i regularly attended gay pride parades, i also has served volunatarily street patrol worker at the guardians of lesbians in the village.
