The apple horses are living together in a desert region. Their unique traits are that they have longer legs in order to combat deep sand. They have large eyes to detect near predators. they stay in herds in order to be stronger in numbers. their variation is their skin color, as some are darl, some have grey dots, and some have brown dots.
The land which they were inhabiting, split apart due to a massive earthquake that caused the land to break. This caused three horses to be on one side and the other three horses to be on the other side. This scenario was caused by Geographical isolation.
As the animals lived in their areas, different plants grew on opposite sides. On one side, larger trees began to grow causing the horse's food to be higher up. On the other side, short bushes grew to allow the horses to continue eating as they were.
One of the horses has adapted to its food being in a higher location by standing up on two legs instead of four as it is more convenient for the horse. The other horses are yet to adapt but this trait is growing amongst that population which shows the natural selection taking place. The other side doesn't have to adapt.
All of the apple horses have adapted to the food being higher due to the structural adaptation of being able to stand on two feet and remain like that. The horses on the other side have not adapted due to the fact that there was nothing to adapt to. This has caused speciation to occur and the horses with the two feet standing up have revolutionized into a new species.
When the two species are put back into the same environment, they cannot physically reproduce, since the horses with the two legs standing up have gone through Mechanical isolation and they are both now physically incompatible with each other. The horses on two legs, adapted to reproducing on two legs, while the other horses still reproduced on four legs.
