When the architects of our Republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the declaration of independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that. all men- yes, black men as well as white men -would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Here in this scene, King is using logic and reason. He is hammering in what the Constitution and Declaration states. He is reminding people of what should be taking place in the U.S.

Here in this scene, King is using emotion and appealing to the listener's feelings. He is sharing his hopes and desires for the future. This appeals to the listeners because they sympathize and start to understand King.
